Ahead of Friday’s home opener against the North York Rangers, the Markham Royals have announced the signing of forward Stepan Chukharev to a standard player agreement.
Chukharev, 18, spent the 2024-25 season with the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he produced seven points in 38 games. Chukharev was previously selected in the fifth round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.
Prior to his OHL experience, the 6’2, 190 pound Chukharev played his U15 and U16 AAA seasons with the Vaughan Kings, played 2023/24 with the U18 Toronto Jr. Canadiens, and made his OJHL debut as an AP in a single game with the Toronto Junior Canadiens.
