Follow along with the Royals’ season every Friday (Royals Weekly) on MarkhamRoyals.com as we look back at the games that were and look ahead to the upcoming action! Note that we will be shifting to a once-weekly format beginning this week.

Royals Drop Pair

Last weekend did not go as hoped for the Royals, as they were defeated in each of their respective games against Toronto and Buffalo.

Friday’s matchup against the Junior Canadiens was closely fought throughout, but a three-goal run for JRC in the second period pulled the score out of reach. Julian Mandarino scored Markahm’s lone goal.

Sunday’s lone regular-season crossing into the United States was no kinder, with the Jr. Sabres riding a wave of momentum to a 7-2 final score. Rookies Athan Miwa and Charlie Nolette picked up Markham’s goals.

Upcoming Games

The Royals have two more games to wrap up in October, facing the Milton Menace at home on Sunday and the Wellington Dukes on the road on Wednesday. As an out-of-conference opponent, Sunday’s game will be Markham’s lone game against Milton this season. Last year, the Royals defeated the Menace 3-2 in their rink.

As for Wellington, the game gives the Royals the opportunity to take lessons learned from their 8-1 defeat to the Dukes on September 15th and come out with a stronger effort. Sunday’s game will be played at 1:30 p.m., while Wednesday’s has a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
