Royals Wrap Up Preseason

Another preseason is in the books for the Royals, with a five-game stint wrapped up in the end of August.

Markham wrapped up exhibitions with a 2-3 record across five games, winning both of its matchups against the Mississauga Chargers while falling twice to the St. Michael’s Buzzers and once to the North York Rangers.

Royals Open Regular Season In Cobourg

With a week and a half to make final roster decisions and fully prepare for the new year, the 2024/25 Markham Royals will begin their season on the road against the Cobourg Cougars this evening.

Both teams had relatively similar regular seasons last year, with the Royals going 30-20-3-3 to the Cougars’ 31-18-3-4 record. However, Cobourg went a little deeper in the playoffs, advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Cougars began their season last Friday, falling 7-4 to the Trenton Golden Hawks.

The two teams split their season series in 2023/24, with the Cougars winning the first two games and the Royals responding with a pair of their own wins. Each team won and lost once in their home arena, showing that home-ice advantage isn’t guaranteed in this matchup.

Puck drop for tonight’s game is at 7:00 p.m. at Cobourg Community Centre. Those who won’t be travelling with the Royals can catch the game on FloHockey.tv.
