Royals Slump Continues

Markham’s losing streak extended to six games following losses to St. Michaels and Burlington over the weekend.

On Friday, the Royals found themselves playing catch up against the Buzzers early, conceding an icebreaker two minutes in. While the team kept things close, outshooting St. Michael’s in the second and third periods, they were never able to fully take control of the game, ultimately falling 4-1. Julian Mandarino scored the lone Markham goal. Sunday had a similar start, with the Cougars going up by one in the opening minutes as well, but Owen Fergusson and Josh Giordano flipped the game back into the Royals favour by the end of the period. Markham led by one going into the third, but three unanswered goals by the top-seeded team in the West were ultimately the dagger.

Chance To Snap Streak In Georgetown

The Royals have a new opportunity to shake off their struggles on Wednesday night when they take on the Georgetown Raiders in a road, out-of-conference battle. Georgetown currently sits tied for eighth in the Western Conference, with a 4-4-1-2 record through eleven games.

The Royals played the Raiders once in the 2023/24 season, in the last regular season game of the year. That game ultimately went to Georgetown, as three unanswered goals in the third period gave them a 5-3 victory.
