MARKHAM’S FORBERG NAMED WARRIOR EAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF MONTH

October 6, 2023, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Ryan Forberg of the Markham Royals has been named the Warrior East Conference Player-of-the-Month for September after he tallied 19 points during eight games. He scored six goals and added 13 assists.

The 20-year-old from nearby Thornhill amassed 63 points (25 goals/38 assists) last season. The Royals assistant captain was runner-up for North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month in December 2022.

Forberg played the previous year with the Toronto Patriots of the OJHL. He was a member of the 2019 OHL Cup champion Don Mills Flyers U16 team.

Andy Reist of the Cobourg Cougars was runner-up to Forberg as the East Conference Player-of-the-Month. The Waterloo native had eight goals and 10 assists in nine games. The third-year Cougar is committed to NCAA Division I Niagara for 2024. He was a member of Team Canada East that won silver at the World Junior A Challenge last year.
