MARKHAM, ON — The Markham Royals are pleased to announce their player leadership group for the 2026–27 season, led by 19-year-old veteran Athan Miwa, who enters his third season with the Royals.
Miwa will wear the captain’s “C” and will be supported by Andrew Pacheco and Mason Cruzet as assistant captains. Chance Adams and Adriano Bregliano will also share assistant captain responsibilities throughout the season.
Royals General Manager JC Larocque believes the team is in an excellent position with a strong group of leaders ready to set the tone both on and off the ice.
“We are in a very fortunate position to have such strong leadership this year. This is a confident, committed, and likeable group of young men who will be excellent role models for the rest of our team, especially our younger players, both on and off the ice. We are excited to get the season underway and look forward to seeing this group lead the way.”
The Royals will open their 2026–27 campaign on the road tomorrow night when they travel to Buffalo for their season opener. The team will be looking to start the new season on a strong note as the 2026–27 journey officially gets underway.
The Markham Royals would like to congratulate Athan, Andrew, Mason, Chance and Adriano on their leadership appointments and wish the entire team a successful season.
