The Markham Royals have yet another collegiate commitment to announce, as defenceman Ray Hou has confirmed his commitment to the NCAA Division III Amherst College Mammoths.

Hou was an elite presence for the Royals throughout the 2023/24 season, leading Royals defencemen in goals (10) and points (35) across 45 games played. Hou finished tied for 18th among OJHL defencemen in points and tied for ninth in goals. Hou, known for being as physical as he was creative despite his 5’10 frame, joined the Royals last offseason via a trade with the Toronto Patriots.

Hou’s success with the Royals this season was recognized with an appearance at the 2023/24 OJHL All-Star festivities in Collingwood.

The Vaughan, Ontario native is the seventh member of the 2023/24 Royals to confirm their commitment to post-secondary hockey, joining Ryan Forberg, Owen Halloran, Shane Bondy, Christopher Engelbert, Hunter Svicki, and Nicolas Tan. Hou becomes the 46th member in the franchise’s time in Markham to commit to an NCAA or USPORTS program and joins a group of over 200 commitments across the franchise’s history.
