The Markham Royals add their sixth collegiate commitment of 2023/24 to their resume, as defenceman Nicolas Tan has confirmed his commitment to NCAA Division III Aurora University Spartans.
Tan was a steady two-way presence for the Royals in 2023/24, posting a goal and 14 assists in 46 games, matching his stat line from the previous season. Tan, who originally came to the Royals through a trade with Campbellton of the MHL, played 82 games for Markham. His skating ability and strong transition game were difference-makers in several of the Royals’ top performances last season.
The Montreal, Quebec native is the first player in the organization to commit to Aurora University, an Illinois-based school. He is the 45th player in the Royals era to commit to an NCAA or USPORTS program and joins a group of over 200 commitments across the franchise’s history.
Ryan Forberg, Owen Halloran, Shane Bondy, Christopher Engelbert, and Hunter Svicki also received commitments through their play with the Royals in the 2023/24 season.
